PostHeaderIcon The Volley Project - About The Volley Project

Volleyball for adult community is supposed to be fun.  It is supposed to be entertaining.  Matches should be a time for guys and girls to compete with (and against) friends.  Camaraderie and fraternity should be promoted with a set of simple rules that keep the game safe and fair yet competitive and reliably fun.

There is room for everyone in volleyball.  If you're new to the sport, please find a way to participate.  The network of players and friends is already immense but the more the merrier!  This project is a sophisticated solution intended to bring everyone together.  Opportunities to play are plentiful and we hope to promote and perpetuate this sport by adding more venues, more formats (including creative, highly social ones like the scrambled format).

So what's The Project?  This application is intended to keep everyone (hopefully in the world) connected to each other and committed to playing volleyball.  Using the power of Facebook, you can easily connect with local players, build your team, register your team, and track your standings! That's right -- finally you'll have a way to compare your own team with the rest of the region (hopefully with the rest of the world).

How much does The Volley Project cost?  Are you ready for this?  Just your tournament entry fees! Skip that $35 fee for participation in other sanctioned tournaments and jump right in and play with the tournament directors of The Volley Project.  Our mission involves adding value to the sport (and to athletes) using unique relationships with tournament directors that share the same vision.  The Project will promote their tournaments, assist with registration, track results and manage standings.  It's that simple.

So if you're tired of overly strict uniform rules, expensive membership fees, unnecessary regulations regarding subbing and level of play, ... well, The Volley Project changes all that...  It is different than any way we've played before.  It's simple.  It's for everybody.  And everyone is encouraged to participate, share ideas, give feedback, and make it even better.  That's why it's called "The Volley Project."  The idea is that it'll never been done.  The formula for fun should be ever-evolving, always affordable, and with you as the spotlight.

It is easy to sign up and even easier to participate.  And your enjoyment of the game is reliable.

To get the absolute best volleyball experience every single weekend, give it a try.  Registration is already open for "Pre-season" tournaments for men's and women's teams.  Take a look at the Tournament Schedule for dates and divisions.  Teams can also plan out and register for regular season tournaments throughout Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.  The season will culminate at an exclusive regional championship tournament at Akron Sports Center in Akron, Ohio over the April 21/22 weekend.  Note: The TVP championships will be the weekend after the junior bid tournament. Coaches are welcome to participate without conflicting with junior olympic priorities on this weekend.

Legal and liable position:

The Volley Project and it's volunteers  (hereafter referred to as TVP) is a non-profit organization founded only to promote tournaments for event directors/coordinators.  Volleyball is a sport and injury (sometimes serious) is a risk that participants assume.  Event directors are responsible for maintaining a safe venue, and participants are expected to maintain to their own accident insurance in case of injury.  TVP technically has nothing to do with the actual running of the event (only advertising it) and will be held harmless of any liability exposures involved with administering a tournament.  Participants are encouraged to discuss any evidence of negligence or hazards with the event director.
